My textiles are made to bring distinctive colour and pattern to where you live and work. Each piece is hand block printed separately with its own unique variations of colour, pattern and texture, and will I hope be something you keep and carry with you from one home to the next.

What is so fantastic about hand block printing is how the basic simplicity of its technique - the cutting of the design into the surface of a block, the application of colour to the remaining ‘proud’ areas and the final pressing of the block onto the surface of the fabric to transfer the design - can then be interpreted in so many ways to allow a huge variety of diverse choices, methods and outcomes.

Inspiration comes from the manmade, from the forms and patterns of artefacts and architecture.

Having taught art and design in London and mid Wales we moved to Sheffield in 2012 and I began The Black Fish Press two years later. Sheffield is a great place to run a small creative business. It has a strong friendly network of artists and craftspeople, an abundance of makers’ studios and innovative outlets for showing and selling work. It’s easy to keep my business local with inks sourced from York and fabrics from Bradford, and cushions made up here in Sheffield.
